Meet Emerald: The New Creative Heart Behind Our Custom Designs

✨ Welcoming Emerald to Carlson Homestead Quilting

If you had told me a year ago that my little business would come this far, I would have thought you were crazy! But here we are. My products are now available on a variety of online platforms — Etsy, my own website, TikTok, and Walmart.com, to name a few — and some of my precut quilt squares are now stocked in a growing number of fabric stores around the country.

It’s all I can do to keep up with the growth of my business, which is so incredibly exciting. But with that excitement came the realization that I can’t keep doing everything myself. Specifically, I simply don’t have time to work on custom designs and special requests anymore — which has been so disappointing, because I get them all the time!

While it’s all I can do to just keep up with cutting fabric, I knew I didn’t want to drop the custom design side of things completely. So, I decided to bring on some help!

How I Met Emerald

I met Emerald several years ago when I was still working as a natural hoof care practitioner for horses. At the time, she was working at Allegiance Ranch and Equine Rescue, an amazing program I had the privilege of serving for a time through hoof care for some of their horses.

I was immediately impressed by Emerald’s horsemanship skills and her calm, grounded presence around the horses. As I got to know her better, I discovered that she’s also a gifted artist and graphic designer.

While we both moved on in different directions in life, we kept in touch. When I realized I needed to start outsourcing some of my graphic design work, Emerald instantly came to mind!

What Emerald Will Be Doing

Emerald will now be handling most of your custom design requests, but you can also look forward to seeing some of her own designs and artwork added to my regularly stocked items — and even a few exclusive collections that she’s working on behind the scenes.
